Teaching in the Volta Region in Ghana
The children in Ghana are keen on learning English. Especially in the rural areas children speak an African language as their mother tongue (e.g. Twi, Ewe or Ga). However, English is the key to better jobs and greater economical independence. This project supports pupils between 5 and 16 years to improve their command of English as well as their command of Maths and Sciences. If you like you may also work in a preschool. Otherwise you will be teaching English, mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology in a school. Besides reading English literature with older pupils, the main focus lies on the improvement of the articulation. Supporting your teaching activities you will receive a "Teaching Guide" for your daily work at school.
Accommodation and Meals:
You will be accommodated by a host family where you will also receive three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) a day. Hence you will experience the eating habits and the culture of your open-hearted host family.
