Hospital Project in Cameroon
The hospital project in Cameroon gives you opportunity to work in a Cameroonian clinic. You should be a doctor, a nurse or a medical student to contribute effectively to every day challenges in the hospitals. Volunteers assist doctors in the hospitals in their daily medical routine: tying bandages, prescribing medication, recording patients’ anamnesis, consulting patients, smaller operations etc. You can help in several different fields, e.g. in the neonatal ward, the theatre, in the lab, the dentistry, with consulting as well as with screenings. In Cameroon there is one medical doctor to thousands of patients. Hence the medical staff is overworked. In rural areas the patients often have to walk long distances until they receive medical aid. Qualified volunteers are therefore desperately needed.
Volunteers are usually accommodated by host families. You will receive three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) there and eat together with the family. Hence you get to know the eating habits of Cameroonians and you will receive an intense insight into the culture of Western Africa.
