Health Project in Nepal
Many medical care locations in the rural areas of Nepal are personally understaffed. Additionally the well educated employees in the rural areas suffer from the lack of transportation and cannot go to courses to improve their knowledge. Through your support the medical care provision of the often disadvantaged Nepalese people can be made better. Volunteers are mostly employed in hospitals, health clinics and other health centers. Hence you will support doctors and other members of the medical staff in taking care of the sick. Furthermore you are welcome to help out with immunizations, consultancy of the patients, nourishment programs and taking care of smaller injuries. Additionally you have the chance to be part of health camps, mobile clinics and home visits. For those kinds of activities you should bring some medical experience though. Volunteer positions on this project are therefore especially interesting for medical students, nurses etc.!
Accommodation and Meals:
During the orientation days you will be staying in a hostel in Kathmandu. Afterwards you will be brought to the project together with other volunteers, where you are accommodated by a host family. You will have your meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) together with your host family. This way you will have the chance to get to know the Nepalese culture, get involved into the community of the village you work in, and find friends easily.
