The Australian educational system is standardized and well structured. The various levels of qualification are built upon each other and complete each other. The so called "Australian Qualifications Framework" (AQF) offers 12 degrees.

Students can transfer their German credits to Australian Universities to finish their studies in Australia. According to experience though, the universities usually insist on students to complete at least half of their studies at their institution. 

The unitized and standardized system offers a simple entry to the ideal study program to international students.

The university system in Australia does not differ much from the British one. You can graduate with a B.A .after 3 years at the earliest. A one to two year Master study program follows. A Ph.D. is the highest obtainable degree.

Undergraduate Studies:

Bachelor (BA): Basic Studies plus 1-2 semester and a final thesis
Bachelor with Honours (BA (Hons)): Extension of the  Bachelor (plus ½-1 extra years with lectures and research paper; 4 years including Bachelor).

Postgraduate-Studies:

Graduate Certificate: one semester courses
Graduate Diploma: two semester
Masters by Coursework: 2-4 semester including a Master-Thesis

Postgraduate Research:
Masters by Research: 4 semester of research work
Masters by Coursework: 4 semester lectures
Doctoral Level with Ph.D.: Doctor title with 3 year of research work
