Feeding Project in Kenyan School
The school feeding program supports children who have an approximately 13 km way to school every day. Most of their families cannot afford two meals a day. As a volunteer you can help to supply the pupils with warm meals at school and thereby encourage them to actually come to school and have the chance to improve their school grades. In collaboration with the school`s cook you will make preparations in the evenings for next day`s meals, cook meals during the day and serve the food to the children. Washing dishes is also one of your duties. But you will also spend a lot of time with the children during the day: give English lessons, play and sing with them, e.t.c..
Accommodation and Meals:
You will be hosted by a family within the community. You will be given your personal room, which will have basic items such as a bed, mattress, table and a chair. The room will also have a locker to secure your belongings whenever you are not at home. You will have three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) with your hosting family. This way you will get in touch with the local population and learn about the Kenyan culture.
