1. Will I get paid for my internship?
The offered Indonesian internships are generally not paid. Only in very rare exceptions a small pocket money or transport or lunch costs are paid. You should not count on that and consider that in your budget.
2. When should I visit Venezuela?
Santa Elena is worth a visit all year round. Temperatures are stable and pleasant. But you should bring some warmer clothes as it can get quite cold at night.
3. Do my electrical devices work?
You will need an adaptor for the Venezuelan plugs, but then all your electrical devices should work.
4. Can I withdraw money in Venezuela?
You can withdraw money at ATMs with an international debit or credit card (Visa, Cirrus, Master) in Venezuela. Please ask your bank about international fees. You can pay via credit card in restaurants, banks, travel agencies, supermarkets or at rental car agencies. Currency in Venezuela is the Bolívar.

You need to get international health insurance for the whole duration of you stay in Venezuela.
6. What vaccinations are recommended?
There are no special laws regarding vaccinations for Venezuela. Nevertheless, it is recommended to freshen up your normal vaccinations and also have vaccinations for Hepatitis A und B, Typhus as well as Polio. If you are planning to take a trip to Brazil you need a Yellow Fever vaccination. Furthermore there is a risk of Malaria in some parts of Venezuela.
7. Can I use my mobile phone in Venezuela?
In general, yes. If you want to be available round the clock, just bring your mobile. But get a SIM card in Venezuela. Make sure your mobile phone does not have a SIM lock and that it can work with 110V/60.

8. What about the average costs of living?
Of course, this depends a lot on your life style. Compared to Europe Venezuela is cheaper. Daily expenses are about 3 to 5 Euros without accommodation. If you like to go to restaurants a lot and try a lot of leisure activities, the costs are naturally a little higher.
9. Do I need a Visa?
No. For a stay up to 90 days you do not need a Visa. But your passport needs to be valid for at least another 6 months after your departure. The Visa can be extended for a longer stay. The Brazilian border is only about 15 minutes by car from Santa Elena and you can extend your Visa there.
10. What leisure activities are there in Santa Elena?
Santa Elena is a small town with about 20,000 inhabitants in the heart of the La Gran Sabana National Park. There are nice shopping opportunities, restaurants, internet cafés, clubs and a lively nightlife as well as a manifold of touristic sights. If you are up for some adventures, the nature has a lot to offer, too. Santa Elena's surroundings have tropical rain forest, spectacular mountains, rivers and great waterfalls.
