We organise a range of events within the UK, including an Anglo Saxon Beer festival, Christmas markets in Rochester and a Global village for the 2012 Olympics. We are part of a group of travel companies.
Tasks
To work with the Group Chief Executive to implement and deliver the Phase 1 objectives of a Strategy for the London Olympics in 2012 over a 6-8 month period. This will focus on:
Key steps related to our Olympic Village(s) concept:
- Finalising the actual layout and content of the site(s) itself, including the securing of key supplies such as tents, marquees etc in anticipation of strong demand for 2012 from others
- Obtaining official accreditation for the site(s) from Visit Britain
- Developing and obtaining internal agreement on pricing & packaging strategy within the context of an overall profit budget for the concept
- Finalising a range of proposal options for various potential key distributors and agents, ensuring adherence to the strict Olympic copyright regulations
- Identifying and successfully securing agreements with key distributors for the Village in 2012
- Preparing more general marketing activities for direct sales to the public once tickets go on sale to the general public in 2011
Olympic-related product development input for 2011 and 2012 tours to London and other Olympic venues including the identification of primary distribution / marketing channels - Identifying and developing packages for visitors to visit ‘ticketless’ events during the Olympics along with events where ticket access is not anticipated to be an issue or where we have expertise, also including the identification of primary distribution / marketing channels Identification of any opportunities related to the Paralympics
Skills needed
- Hungry to learn and develop practical business skills for his/her future career
- Reliable and able to work independently on his/her own initiative or as part of a team, whilst demonstrating creativity, resilience and an ability to think ‘out of the box’
- Results orientated and focused on making a measurable contribution to the business
- Commercially aware with an ability to negotiate
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and an ability to interact successfully at all levels
- Ideally, an interest in tourism, hospitality or event management
